World Rabies Day: 18 died in Nepal in the last fiscal year

Kathmandu, Sept.28: World Rabies Day is observed every year on September 28.  The theme for this year is ‘End Rabies: Collaborate, Vaccinate’.

According to director of Epidemiology  and Communicable Disease Control Division , Basu Dev Pandey, Nepal has set a goal to bring down the rabies fatality case to zero by 2030 AD.

This painful disease kills 35,000 people every year in Asia.  In last year 2019, 18 people had died of rabies in Nepal. The death toll was 32 in 2018.

Rabies is fatal disease transmitted through bite of dogs, cats, foxes and bats.
