Kathmandu, May 13: The US government has announced a funding of 2.75 million US dollars in order to help Nepal meet its immediate needs to fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

The funding has been earmarked for crucial oxygen generating plants, liquid oxygen storage tanks and oxygen transportation cylinders, according to the US Embassy in Nepal.

Since April 2020, the US has provided a total of nearly 5.8 million US dollars in overseas humanitarian, disaster assistance and civic aid funding to Nepal that enabled the Embassy to purchase PPE, breathing devices, isolation/disaster camp equipment and supplies, telemedicine equipment, COVID-19 testing supplies, handwashing stations and medical equipment for numerous health clinics across Nepal, adds the Embassy.

The health and medical supplies were handed over to the Government of Nepal in presence of the COVID-19 Crisis Coordination and Management Centre and the Ministry of Health and Population officials on May 12.
