Kathmandu: Nepal Medical Council has suspended 2 doctors including 1 senior on the charge of negligence during the treatment of former district education officer of Kaski, Yogendra Bahadur Basnet.

Stomach and digestive system (Gastrointestine, GI) surgeon Dr. Sunil Kumar Sharma and Dr. Rajiv Mishra on duty have been suspended by the Nepal Medical Council for 1 week.

Basnet had a gall bladder operation on June 5 and died on June 8.

His son Samir Bahadur Basnet filed a complaint in the council saying that his father had a heart attack 2 days after the operation and then his father died due to negligence in medical monitoring and treatment.

The council meeting held last Friday. It was decided to suspend Sharma and Mishra. The council said that the doctor’s weakness was seen in the follow-up after the operation of the patient.

Dr. Sharma is the head of the surgeon department at Medicity Hospital.

The council is of the opinion that although the health condition of the patient was complicated, the doctor did not pay serious attention to it.

On June 7 at 10 pm Dr. Dr. Rajiv Mishra informed that the patient’s health condition is good. Sharma was made.

But at that time the condition of the patient had become complicated. Even when complications arise in patients under his leadership, Dr. delayed in treating him on time.

The duo doctors will be suspended for 1 week with effect from the day of sending the letter by the council.
