Two arrested for slaughtering ox in Illam

Illam, Jan 16: Two persons have been arrested in Rumfok of Suryadoya municipality for allegedly slaughtering an ox. Neema Tamang (38) and Pema Tamang (38) were arrested after police were informed regarding the incident. Slaughtering of a cow/ox being the national animal has been prohibited by law. Nepal became a secular state in 2008. Cow, which is sacred to the Hindus, was declared the national animal of Nepal in 2015 in the country’s secular Constitution.
