Police have arrested three persons on the charge of raping a teenager at Mandan Deupur municipality-7. They were among the four persons who allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl at the Indrawati river bank in ward no. 6 of the municipality on March 17.
Those arrested are Puskar Rai,24, Prakash Danuwar,21, of the same locality and Ram Kumar Rai,21, of ward no. 7, according to DSP at the district police office, Dhulikhel Dipak Giri. The fourth person is at large. The arrests were made following FIR filed by the family of the rape survivor.
The girl used to work extracting sand from the river. And two of the alleged rapists are driver and driver assistant of a tipper used to transport sand. They were arrested from the sand mining industry. The girl was reportedly abducted in front of her grandmother by the four, who took her on a tipper to the river bank and raped her.
Further investigation is underway, while a medical examination of the rape survivor has been carried out, DSP Giri said.
