Pokhara, President Bidya Devi Bhandari inaugurated a lift installed at the Bindhyabasini temple amidst a programme here today.The lift has been constructed for the convenience of the older persons and persons with disability coming for worshipping at the temple.
The lift has been constructed at a cost of Rs 10 million under the aegis of Hyundai Motor Company, South Korea and the Laxmi Group Nepal.
The 60 feet tall lift can transport up to 12 people at one time. Its weight carrying capacity is 680 kilogrammes.
President Bhandari also paid homage to goddess Bindhyabasini, lord Ganesha and Mahadev within the temple precincts on the occasion.
Three of the five people, who died after a passenger bus heading towards Kathmandu from Kakarvitta of Jhapa met with an accident and fell into the Trishuli river this morning, have been identified. Of them four died on the spot while one died on the way to hospital, police said.
