Nawalparasi, August 12: A paper factory at Madhyabindu municipality in the district has resumed operation following a halt of two years.
Established in 2075 B.S., the industry named Quality Paper Industries Pvt. Ltd. makes the use of paper wastes and local raw materials, said Suresh Kumar Gupta, chairperson of the industry, adding that in the first phase, it will priorities carton production.
“It aims to make the country independent of boxes for packaging. In the second phase, production of white papers will take place.
We will priorities the use of local raw materials to produce papers,” he said.
The industry will be environment-friendly as it makes the use of European technology to produce papers, claimed managing director of the industry, Rajan Piya.
The machine installed in the industry has capacity to process 115 tonnes paper wastes, he said.
Spanning approximately 11 bighas of land, the industry has an investment of around Rs 500 million from four youth entrepreneurs.
The industry will provide job opportunities to approximately 150 people directly once it comes into full-fledged operation, said Piya.
Paper wastes are being exported to India at cheaper prices.
