Kathmandu, Feb 26 : Former Speaker Daman Nath Dhungana has said he had not expressed anything that could influence the court decision. He said it while responding to the Supreme Court on a contempt of court case filed against him.

He furnished a written response at the SC on Thursday and argued that he had expressed free speech relating to the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR), but not influenced or pressed the court on its decision making process.

“The respected SC is the only independent and non-political entity with its own specificity and I want it to speak on its fundamental nature as well,” he appealed in the response.

Earlier, advocate Rajaram Ghimire had filed a contempt of court case against former Speaker Dhungana, accusing him of expressing views that could influence court decision regarding the HoR dissolution.

A single bench of Justice Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma had issued an order seeking written response from former Speaker Dhungana on it.

Dhungana argued that his speech would not influence court so the case should be repealed.
