Nepal defeated the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to win its third match under the ICC Women T20 World Cup Qualifier Asia-2019 going on in Thailand.
In the match held today at Terdthai Cricket Ground, Nepal met a target of 42 runs posted by the UAE in 10.2 overs at a loss of three wickets. Nepali squad captain Rubina Chhetri contributed the maximum 18 runs to the team while Kajal Shrestha made 15 runs and Sarita Rana Magar played with six runs. Prior to this, the UAE winning the toss, chose to bat first and finished the term by losing all the wickets in 17.3 overs with just 41 runs to its account.
No batswoman from the UAE except Chamani Roshini; 13 runs, succeeded in making a double digit run. Nepal’s Neri Thapa alone took four wickets while Sita Rana Magar, Sonu Khadka and Krishna Kunwar each took two wickets.
With the latest victory, Nepal has so far collected four points. In the three matches it played so far, it faced a defeat in one. The UAE has also four points. Nepal will meet Hong Kong on February 24 for the next match; China on February 25 and Kuwait on February 27. A team winning the title will be qualified to play in the ICC T20 Qualifier. A total of seven countries from Asia are competing for the title.
Three of the five people, who died after a passenger bus heading towards Kathmandu from Kakarvitta of Jhapa met with an accident and fell into the Trishuli river this morning, have been identified. Of them four died on the spot while one died on the way to hospital, police said.
