Suraj Hazare Dahal: Hindi movie, ‘Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway’ has come to Nepali audience 3 days after its release in India. Based on the real life incident, this movie tells about the fight of Indian immigrant mother (Sagarika Chakraborty) to get back her 2 children taken by Norwegian authorities.

Sagarika had made news headlines in 2012 as she started to fight against the Norwegian authorities. The issue even made the diplomatic affair between the two democratic countries.

The scene of the Indian court at climax is worth watching when Rani says-‘I don’t know whether I’m a good mother or bad mother but I’m a mother’.

Norway is ranked as one of the happiest countries in the world. Because of this, the government interferes in the daily life of people. The government ensures that its citizen lives the good life, specially the children. If parents are unable to raise their children properly then they are taken by foster homes,

Sagarika had written a novel on her struggle- ‘The Journey of a Mother’ on which Ashima Chhibbar has directed this emotional movie. The lead role is played by Rani Mukherjee as Devika Chatterjee and Anirban Bhattacharya as Aniruddha.

The director could have made this movie more filmy in bollywood way to attract general audience but to make it realistic, the movie goes- move on the flow in order to hold the sentiment of targeted viewers.

The scene of the Indian court at climax is worth watching when Rani says-‘I don’t know whether I’m a good mother or bad mother but I’m a mother’. She was quoted as bad mother when she was caught feeding her children with hands and sharing bed with children by foster authorities. The Indian style of parenting was enough for the authorities to separate children from mother.

Jim Sarbh’s (Daniel) appearance in Indian court as a representative of Norwegian government seems emotional as he was raised by adoptive parents.

At the same time Rani Mukherjee tries to prove that only bio-logical mother are near and dear to their offspring. Among the three shorts songs, ‘Shubo Shubho’ soothes your soul!.

After the release of the movie, the Norwegian ambassador to India (Hans Jacob) criticized the movie by writing an article ‘Norway Cares’ in Indian Express.

Despite his criticism, the fans of Mardani-2 and No One Killed Jessica will obviously love this movie of Rani Mukherjee.
