Kathmandu, July 11 : The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MoCIT) has expressed serious concern over the publication/dissemination of ill-intended and ill-founded news reports about Nepal and its Prime Minister by some Indian media outlets.

Issuing a statement on Friday, the Ministry has urged all sides to become sensitive on the matter, as it was against the international norms and practice of journalism and could have an adverse impact on Nepal-India relations.

“The Ministry recognizes that the mass communications media should become objective and follow the facts and truth while disseminating news and become self-committed to professional ethics”, reads the statement issued by the MoCIT spokesperson and joint-secretary Rishi Ram Tiwari.

Furthermore, any media should not produce, public and disseminate reports that could cause harm to the nationality and self-pride of a country.

The Ministry has also thanked the Nepal Digital Cable Operators for becoming responsible and voluntarily stopping the broadcasting of some Indian media channels in the country, in view of their reports hurting national sentiments through their baseless accusation against Nepal’s respected institution and leadership.
