Pokhara, Jan 25: Dhan Bahadur Gayak, a folk artist of Gandharva community has passed away. The singer died at Manipal Hospital in Pokhara this morning while undergoing treatment.
The singer from Batulechaur, Pokhara-16, was the creator of immortal songs including ‘Yo Dajuko Mirmire Aankha’, ‘Belly Ra Chameli’.
The singer, who was born in 1965, was undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of Manipal Medical College Teaching Hospital after he was diagnosed with chest and lung problems.
The singer had been running Sarangi Samrakshan Pathshala with the aim of reviving the Gandharva culture. He believed that identity survives only if folk culture survives.
