Rupandehi: Four persons were killed in lightning in different districts across the nation.
The deceased in Kailali was identified as Punaram Chaudhary,48, of Krishnapur municipality-5 in Kanchapur district, according to the District Police Office, Kailali. He was struck by the thunderbolt while he was on the way to Malakheti of Godawari Municipality-3 in Kailali district to cultivate paddy, informed DSP Bed Prakash Joshi.
Similarly, another deceased was identified as Ramnath Barahi, 45, of Siyari rural municipality-2 in Rupandehi, according to the District Police Office, Rupandehi. The lightning struck him while going to work in the farmland at Siyari Rural Municipality-2, police said. The dead body has been kept at Bhim Hospital at Bhairahawa for post-mortem.
Similarly, two persons from Punarbas Municipality of Kanchanpur district died in the lightning this morning.
The dead ones are Devendra Shrestha, 40, from town bazaar of Punarbas Municipality-6 and Sharada Thapa, 25, from Punarbas Municipality-8. Information about this was shared by police inspector Ramesh Raj Malla from Area Police Office, Tribhuvan Basti.
The lightning occurred when Shrestha was working in a rice field, which claimed his life on the spot. The dead bodies have been taken to Seti Provincial Hospital for post mortem.
Another person together with Thapa also received minor injury. Details on the incident are awaited, the police added.
