Pokhara : Police have arrested former Chief Executive Officer of Gandaki Medical College, Santosh Prasad Khanal and Examination Controller, Laxman Prasad Sharma, on the charge of cheating.
They were arrested after students of the college filed complaint against 10 persons including Chairperson of Board of Directors of Gandaki Medical College, saying they have overcharged education fee in MBBS programme.
Police inspector at the District Police Office Kaski, Ganesh Subedi said Khanal and Sharma were arrested from their residences on Wednesday while search for other eight persons were underway.
The students have filed complaint against Member of Board of Directors of Gandaki Medical College, Khuma Aryal, Chief Administrative Officer, Krishna Ghimire, Principal Dr Rabindra Shrestha, Financial Controller Yubraj Sharma, Store Keeper Krishna Poudel, Hari Poudel of Account Section and employees-Dinesh Poudel and Tilak Poudel.
The students are in agitation for the past one month putting fourth four-point demand. The College has overcharged Rs 800,000 to Rs 1.8 million from each student, blamed the students.
