Int’l Women’s Day: Husband carrying race in Tanahu

Tanahu, March 8 : Devghat Rural Municipality has organized a unique competition on the occasion of the 111th International Women’s Day. This is probably the first competition in Nepal to run with  husband.

Bishnu Adhikari and Padam Adhikari came first in the race. Similarly Ganga Gurung and Navin Gurung came second. Meanwhile Sita Lamichhane Chhetri and Bam Bahadur Thapa Chhetri came third in the competition.


Rural Municipality Chairperson Durga Bahadur Thapa informed that 14 couples participated in the competition held at Kalika Secondary School at Devghat-5.

The distance for the competition was 100 meters. Chairman Thapa said that the competition was organized to convey the message that women are physically and mentally as capable as men.

The winners were jointly given shields and certificates by National Assembly Member Bhagwati Neupane, Rural Municipality Chairperson Durga Bahadur Thapa and Vice Chairperson Bimala Thapa.
