Infection soars by 638 cases, four die

Kathmandu, August 11: The country has recorded a total of 638 cases of coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours. The Ministry of Health and Population informed that the new cases were found among 10,462 persons undergone test.

With the latest test, number of people undergoing PCR test has reached 462,698 in the country. In Kathmandu Valley alone, the number of infection was recorded at 136 in the latest update. Among them, Kathmandu got 121 cases of infection, Lalitpur 12 and Baktapur 7.

Four die of virus

Meanwhile, four more persons succumbed to coronavirus. Spokesperson at Ministry, Pro Dr Jageshwor Gautam said those losing lives to the virus are- 50 and 60-year-old men from Dhanusha, 50-year-old woman from Kavre, and 84-year-old man from Sindhupalchowk district.

Meanwhile, 171 persons defeated the coronavirus in the last 24 hours. With this, the number of those getting recovery from the virus has reached 16,664. Currently, there are 7,201 active cases across the country.

There are 224 persons in home isolation and 85 receiving treatment at hospital ICUs. Among these, three are on ventilator support, the Ministry said, adding that there are a total of 11034 ICU beds and 576 ventilators in various hospitals across the country.

The Chaudhari Foundation has gifted eight ventilators to the Health Ministry, according to Spokesperson Dr Gautam.
