Illam, Dec.3: Chief Minister of Province 1 Sherdhan Rai today laid the foundation stone for the construction of a building for a tea study and processing centre amid a function in Ilam district.
The tea processing centre spanning 11 ropanis of land near Kanyam Tea Garden aims to promote production, processing and marketisation of Nepali tea, it has been said.
On the occasion, Province 1 CM Rai expressed the hope that the centre would make a big contribution to the promotion of Nepali tea to the world.
The project, which costs Rs 230 million with 20 percent investment made by Suryodaya Municipality and 80 percent by the Provincial Government, is expected to be complete in 18 months.
