Pokhara: The Pokhara High Court has issued an interim order to immediately stop the excavation from the bank of Seti river in Puranchaur area.
The bench of acting Chief Justice Dilliraj Acharya and Justice Rishi Rajbhandari issued an order on Monday in the name of the Ward Office, office of the Chief Minister and office of the Council of Ministers to stop mining in Dhodeni, Mardi and Listimillo area.
Secretary Somnath Poudel on behalf of the Dandabari Foundation had filed a complaint against various wards and individuals including Gandaki Province, Pokhara Metropolis, to stop the excavation immediately, saying that the mining of stones, sand and gravel in the Seti River and surrounding area under Ward 19 in the northern region of Pokhara has caused environmental damage.
Chairman Hem Poudel of the foundation informed that a writ was filed in mid-February.
