Pokhara: The province government has formed a committee to control the misuse of helicopter. A committee comprising secretaries of various ministries has been formed under the coordination of the Minister of Tourism.

“Helicopters can be boarded only if the committee feels the need. Otherwise, there will be no helicopter ride facility at the government’s expense”, said minister and spokesperson Kumar Khadka.

“Currently, the minister and the secretary are taking helicopter whenever they want. We have formed a committee to be economical”, he said. Earlier, former Chief Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung had proposed to have one helicopter in each province.

The Ministry of Health had also proposed to buy a helicopter. But the central has not opened the way for that. It will be cheaper to charter helicopter instead of buying as there will be no income from parked helicopter.
