Pokhara: Instead of making laws to protect the mass media that transmits information at the citizen level, the Gandaki state government has set its eyes on advertising tax.

The state, which has not been able to enact a mass media law for 5 years, has set its sights on broadcasting and publishing on FM, radio and print.

The state government has not been able to provide any other support except allocating 30 lakhs annually in the name of public welfare advertising.

The meeting of the Gandaki Province Development and Problem Solving Committee has decided to write to the local government to levy tax on FM radio and print advertisements.

It has been decided to send a letter to all local levels to levy advertising tax on advertisements broadcasted on FM.
