Fraudster arrested in Pokhara for pretending to be a policeman

Pokhara/Lamjung: Lamjung police have  arrested a  man on fraud charges from Pokhara and taken to Lamjung for investigation.

The arrestee has been identified as 35-year-old Jeevan Gurung, a permanent resident of Marshyangdi Rural Municipality-1, Ghanpokhara.

He was arrested from Pokhara on January 24 by a special team deployed from District Police Office, Lamjung after a complaint that he had cheated more than 7 lakhs in the name of the police. He had taken 7 lakh 17 thousand from different women and was hiding in Pokhara.

He had taken the amount from women living in Beshisahar by luring that he would settle legal cases that they are facing.

According to Jagdish Regmi, Information Officer of the District Police Office, Jeevan is accused of defrauding various people by making them believe that he is a policeman.

Gurung has been prosecuted for fraud by District Court Lamjung and investigation has been started.
