Feature film ‘Tulkee’ to be released tomorrow

Kathmandu:’Tulkee’ – a Nepali feature film shot on the theme of polyandry is to be released across the country on coming Friday.

Organizing a press conference here on Wednesday, film producer ‘The Palm Group Pvt Ltd’ shared the information.
Film producer Shekhar Lama informed that the film has showcased the practice of polyandry which is still prevailing in some areas of mountainous belt of Nepal.

‘The movie has presented the prevalence of the practice of a woman marrying the brothers of her husband in Dolpa, Humla and Mugu in the mountainous districts’, Lama shared.

The film was shot in the far-flung human settlements of Shey-Phoksundo, Tripurakot, Ralli and Karelikanda, producer Lama added.

Director Devjung Thapa said the film has explored the theme of sufferings of a girl in upper Dolpa in the cusp of deep-rooted traditions. The story is about the girl who was brought up in a different community of lower Dolpa and reached the upper area after having love marriage with a boy from the upper.
