Cabinet decided to close all schools in urban areas till May 14

Kathmandu, April 19 : The federal  government has decided to close all schools in urban areas till May 14.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradip Gyawali informed that the cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on Monday decided to conduct virtual classes in schools in urban areas as per the recommendation of COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC).


Earlier government had decided to run academic session for this year until May 14 and to conduct exam from May 15 onward. Now students in urban areas will attend the exam from May 15 if it will get permission to open later on.

The government has directed to conduct classes through virtual medium for one month. Corona epidemic has been spreading rapidly in urban areas recently.

With the new order of the government, the operation of physical classes in urban schools will be stopped.  Earlier government had decided to run academic session for this year until May 14 and to conduct exam from May 15 onward. Now students in urban areas will attend the exam from May 15 if it will get permission to open.
