Budget Speech: Free COVID-19 vaccine for all, Rs 180.04 billion for education sector

Kathmandu, May 29: Reading out budget for the fiscal year 2021/22, Minister for Finance Bishnu Prasad Poudel has announced to ensure anti-COVID-19 vaccines to all citizens soon.

For this purpose, the Minister said that Rs 26.75 billion has been allocated. Vaccination drive was in the priority as safeguarding people’s life was the government’s main goal, Minister Poduel said while reading out the budget.

Meanwhile, the government has allocated Rs 180.04 billion budget for the education sector in the fiscal year 2021/22. The government has pledged to create favourable environment to make skill-oriented and quality education considering it a basis for human capital.

Reading out the budget speech for the fiscal year 2021/22, Minister for Finance Bishnu Prasad Poudel announced to provide grant to the community schools based on their education results.

For the development of community schools’ infrastructure, a total of Rs 10 billion has been allocated under the President Educational Reform Infrastructure Programme.
