Kathmandu, May 28: The government will establish 272 hospitals across the country in the fiscal year 2020/21.
The hospitals will be built at local levels as per policy to establish a five to 15-bed basic hospital at all local level in a bid to ensure fundamental health service to all citizens, said Finance Minister Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada presenting budget for the new fiscal year at the federal parliament on Thursday.
In this regard, budget worth Rs 14.2 billion has been set aside, he said. Policy of one doctor per health institution will be implemented in the FY, 2077/78 as specified in the budget.
Arrangements would be made to provide Rs 5.1 billion to health institutions at local level to provide fundamental health service alongside checkups on non-communicable diseases, said the minister.
Doctors would be managed at these health institutions. Forty per cent populace at all local levels would be brought under insurance policy in the next FY as stated in the budget. Nutritious food programmes would be run at all health institutions.
