Udayapur: The beekeepers are worried after the beekeeping business in Udayaur has not flourished.
Bhakta Bahadur Magar of Sawa Siddhipur of Chaudandigarh municipality said that although he has been beekeeping for ten years, this profession is facing crisis.
He says, “There is a lack of flowers and most of the bees have died due to the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.”
About 600 modern beehives have been kept commercially in Ranibas, Babla, Savasidhpur areas of Chaudandi municipality for the past four years. Devraj Bista, a farmer of Ranibas, complained that he had to suffer a loss commercially as the farmers could not produce honey as expected.
According to them, the farmers of Bhalayandada, Dumre and Rauta, Murkuchi, Bolukkha, Bhutar, Nametar and Malbase areas of Udaipurgarhi in the central hill region have also faced similar problems.
