Kathmandu, Feb 14: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an order to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) demanding reasons in writing for not filing a charge-sheet against former Prime Ministers Madhav Kumar Nepal and Dr Baburam Bhattarai in the Lalita Niwas land procurement scam.

A single bench of Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher JBR asked the CIAA to submit written reasons within 15 days. Senior advocate Bal Krishna Neupane on February 12 filed a writ petition in the apex court against the CIAA demanding investigations into former PMs Nepal and Bhattarai for their alleged involvement in the cheat. The constitutional anti-graft body on February 5 had filed a charge-sheet in the special court against 175 people for their alleged involvement in the scam.
