Prakash Dhakal, Pokhara, May 8: As many as 200 tourists are stranded in Pokhara and surrounding touristic areas due to the lockdown announced by the government to avoid the second wave of corona.

After the ‘end’ of  first wave, foreign tourists had started arriving in Nepal.  They are staying at the hotel. Some are staying in homestays and some are on trekking area.

‘There is no record of exactly how many there are. According to all sources, there are about 200 tourists, ‘said Gopi Bahadur Bhattarai, chairman of  Pokhara Tourism council.’ ‘So far, no one has requested for rescue. But we are ready to rescue if anyone gets in trouble.’-he added.

“There are more than 50 tourists staying safely in various hotels along the Annapurna route.”-Bhattarai said.  Last year,  tourists had returned home on chartered  plane. Some tourists saw Nepal safer than their homeland and stayed here.
