Pokhara, Dec.19: The 9th edition of IME Nepal Literature Festival will be held virtually in Pokhara on December 29 and 30 in Sarangkot.

The opening ceremony (evening) will be held on the eve of the festival on December 28. The Bookworm Foundation has informed that Amrit Subedi will have a  ‘Mehfil’ programme with Pradip Rodan that evening.

This edition of the festival will have 16 sessions and more than 40 speakers. As all the sessions will be done virtually, the audience will not be present this time. All sessions of the festival will be broadcast live on social media and the festival’s official YouTube channel.

Literary writers, journalists, artists and prominent personalities will be the speakers at the 9th edition of the festival.

Ajit Baral, director of the festival, at the press conference said that they were in confusion for a long time whether to conduct the 9th edition of the festival or not due to the pandemic.

He added, “We decided to organize the festival after the voice was raised that the festival should be continued even if it is virtual.”

Festival executive director Neeraj Bhari also said that they were physically unable to organize the festival during the pandemic.

Likewise, Keshav Sharan Lamichhane, president of  Random Readers Society (the co-organizer), said that the festival and their efforts were to introduce Pokhara through literature.

The first Literature Festival was held in 2011 in Gyan Mandala in Jhamsikhel of Lalitpur.
